Dr Sophie Ramsaroop

MBChB (UKZN) — General Practitioner

I am a South African medical doctor with roots in the coastal town of Port Shepstone. Raised by retired educators and grounded in the values of humility, education, and service, I have always been passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

My academic journey began at Jai Hind Primary and Port Shepstone Secondary School. I went on to study medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), where I obtained my MBChB degree. My clinical training was enriched by a two-year internship at King Edward VIII Hospital, where I rotated through various disciplines including Paediatrics, General Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Following this, I completed my community service year at Ngwelezane Hospital in Empangeni, further strengthening my clinical skills and deepening my commitment to patient-centred care.

In 2015, I entered private general practice as part of a group setting, where I spent a decade honing my expertise. In 2025, I took the leap to establish my own independent practice — a space where I could integrate my clinical knowledge with my passion for preventative and holistic care.

My special interests lie in the management of chronic lifestyle conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidaemia, as well as women's health and mental wellness. I believe in empowering patients with knowledge and tools to take control of their health, and I am committed to treating each individual with compassion, dignity, and respect.

I look forward to continuing to serve my community with a holistic, patient-first approach to healthcare.

Dr Ishq Ramsaroop

General Practitioner — University of Pretoria

I am a dedicated General Practitioner committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Born and raised in Port Shepstone, my journey in medicine has been rooted in community and service from the very beginning.

I completed my early education at Jai Hind Primary School and Port Shepstone Secondary, and later earned my medical degree from the University of Pretoria. My clinical training included an internship at the renowned King Edward VIII Hospital and community service at Tongaat Community Health Centre — experiences that shaped my holistic and practical approach to healthcare.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that health is more than just the absence of disease. I focus on treating the whole person — body, mind, and lifestyle — while managing a wide range of conditions, from acute illnesses to chronic disease care and preventative health. Whether you're visiting for a routine check-up or seeking help for more complex medical concerns, I strive to offer personalised, thorough, and evidence-based care in a warm and respectful environment.
